Install high definition cameras that capture every angle,
360 degrees, top and bottom in various parts of the world -
downtown Tokyo, a South American rainforest, Antarctica,
underwater and so on, then set up exhibits around the
world with multiple rooms, each of which display live
footage on big screens that cover every wall, floor and ceiling.
Manufacture transparent dumpsters. People passing
by would be able to see all the contents, not just
the stuff at the top and would therefore be more
likely to remove items, reducing landfill volume
and helping the environment.
Allow the display on mobile GPS devices to be
flipped vertically so that when it is placed on
the dashboard it will act as a Head Up Display
similar to fighter aircraft.
Mandate that all new homes, businesses, warehouses
and condos have underground water tanks installed
to catch rainwater runoff from roofs. The water
would be used solely for watering lawns, washing
cars and for fire hydrants. The water might also
be sold and piped to drought stricken states.
Record talking books and DVD's on the same disc
where the movie is taken from a novel.
Introduce 'pick your own' into large supermarkets.
The new super-supermarkets would incorporate
plantations under glass or polythene where
customers can actually pick their own fruit and
vegetables direct from the plant.
Create a phone system such that when two people
are calling each other at the same time -
having just been cut off, for example, a message
is announced to the two callers in the ear piece
rather than the normal engaged tone or voicemail.
Supply a small electronic dongle with mp3 players
to attach to the 'video-in' or smart plug on TV
sets. When an mp3 player is plugged into a TV
set for amplification, such as in a hotel room
or at a party, the dongle would respond to the
music and provide real-time visualizations.

Require all new homes that are located in an
area that receives 120 days of sunshine to have
solar panels. Also,require all new homes that
receive over 10 inches of rain to have a
rainwater retention system.
Add a feature to regular cell or landline
phones where the user can forward a voicemail
or answer phone message to another user's phone.
Include an option on the PC in addition to log
off, shutdown, restart, standby ans so on which
shuts down and restarts the PC the next morning
(or any other time required by the user). A
computer alarm could also be installed, so that
the PC will also wake up the user when it restarts
the next day. The user can also program the PC
to play his favourite songs after the alarm.
Erect temporary canvas shelters in cities where
smoking in bars is banned. The shelters would
be centrally located so that patrons of several
bars could use them and would provide an all
weather smoking area as well as a place to meet
smoking strangers.
Assign a recycled paper tray to photocopiers
and printers which would hold all the prints
which the user doesn't wish to keep. The tray
would be selected for non critical print outs
and the copies would appear on the blank side
of the reused paper.
Install a system in vehicles that enables
drivers to communicate with each other. Drivers
would input the license number and, to prevent
abuse and swearing, would only be able to use
preset sentences to inform others that their
lights are not working, that their last move
was dangerous, or simply to apologize.
Display smashed up cars on white pedestals on
the side of the highway as a reminder of what
can happen when people drive dangerously.
Offer downloadable MP3s of silence through
iTunes. The three minutes or so of silence
would give the user's brain an occasional
break and an unexpected opportunity for contemplation.
Create a NASCAR or F1 simulator that recreates
the driving experience soaccurately that users
encounter the same dramatic weight loss as
drivers in a major race.
Introduce an emergency Police SMS number. The
number could be used by people who are in a
real emergency but who, for safety's sake,
need to keep quiet.
Create a web service where users can input the
title of a music track and find out which
(if any) radio station in the world is playing
it or will be playing it shortly. The service
would also give the digital frequency of the
channel so that users can locate the track more easily.
Develop mapping software so that the user can
providing a house or building number and the
map's arrow will point directly to the location.
