Add a small onboard computer and GPS system to shopping cart handles. The system would allow shoppers to select key items they wish to purchase and would then offer journey options, e.g. 'quick shop' - which would provide the fastest/shortest route around the store to purchase the required items, and 'calorie burn' - which would provide a deliberately circuitous route around the store. The LCD display would show key data: distance traveled in store, time taken, average speed, estimated calories burned, etc.

might also be appreciated by parents and carers who want
to give tangible reassurance to a 'poorly' person.

Pair every baby born with a baby from a different country
born on the same day. Each baby would receive information
on their 'birthday pal' until the children are old enough to
communicate with one another if they so wish.

Place microphones and speakers in the dashboard and rear
side-panels inside cars, so that passengers in the back can
hear and join in with the conversation happening in the front.
This in-car intercom would mean people would no longer
have to lean over to hear what others are saying.

Produce an anti-hearing aid that would function in the
opposite way to a traditional hearing aid. When turned up
sounds would be muted, allowing the user to reduce the
volume of, for example, an irate boss, an elderly relative's

Make life simpler by giving every living person just one key
that would open and lock anything and everything they owned.
The 'One Key' would open their house front door, their car,
their garage, their garden shed, their bike lock, etc. Imagine

Coat the inside of milk bottles with a lining which changes
color depending on the condition of the milk. Green would
mean it is okay to drink but as the milk begins to sour the

automatically adjust the time displayed whenever daylight
savings information changes or a vehicle enters a new time
zone. In-car chronometers would be updated via data
streamed from GPS satellites, thus removing the temptation
for people to manually re-program their dashboard clock
whilst driving.

Manufacture a baby's mattress that rises and falls gently to
emulate the breathing of a parent. So that the can baby easy
fall asleep themselve.

Sell a range of soap bars that float so they don't get lost in the
bath. One obvious way of making floaty soap - other than
choosing ingredients that are less dense than water - is to
add air bubbles to each bar during the manufacturing process.
